The Early Bird Gets Arrested!
In Santa Clarita, California in 1995, two eager bank robbers showed up at a bank wearing ski masks, but the door was locked. It was only 8:55 A.M.-the bank opened at 9:00-so the robbers decided to wait around for five minutes. Observant bank employees inside the building took one look at the two guys wearing ski masks in the warm southern California weather and called police.

Here are some excuses that have actually appeared on Accident Reports.

Coming home, I drove into the wrong house and collided with a tree I don't have.

The guy was all over the road. I had to swerve a number of times before I hit him.

The truck backed through my windshield into my wife's face.

I pulled away from the side of the road, glanced over at my mother-in-law in the seat next to me and headed over the embankment.

In my attempt to kill a fly, I drove into a telephone pole.

To avoid hitting the car in front, I struck the pedestrian.

I had been driving my car for 40 years when I fell asleep at the wheel and had the accident.

I first saw the slow-moving, sad-faced gentleman when he bounced off the hood of my car.

The accident happened when the right front door of a car came around the corner without giving any signal.

The telephone pole was approaching fast. I was attempting to swerve out of its way when it struck my front end.

A pedestrian I did not see hit me, then went sliding under my car.

An invisible car came out of nowhere, struck my vehicle and vanished.
